Easy bike ride. Suitable for all levels of training. Mostly paved surfaces. Suitable for all skill levels. More than 80 percent bike path.
A route will be created to explore the coves of the Vastese coast, Casarza, San Nicola, Canale, Vignola; once you arrive at Coast Guard Square, you will be able to continue on Viale Dalmazia going up to Via Donizetti and take the beginning of the Via Verde dei Trabocchi immediately after the tunnel. The Via Verde dei Trabocchi is a bicycle path that runs along the Adriatic coast, offering beautiful views of the sea and of the trabocchi, the characteristic piles used for fishing.
From here you will be guided to the coves by crossing the entire Via Verde dei Trabocchi to the end in contrada Vignola. The route is almost 10 km long and takes about 45 minutes.
Along the way you’ll find a magic of coves, rocks and pebbles, a sequence of breathtaking views punctuated by the “trabocchi,” the fishing machines also described by D’Annunzio stretched out over a thousand shades of blue of the Adriatic.
You can stop for a rest or admire the scenery:
About 6.5 km from the start, you’ll find a quiet cove with crystal-clear waters, ideal for a break and to enjoy the natural beauty. A pebble cove enclosed by a cliff that plunges into a crystal-clear sea; all next to a landing for small fishing boats.
Continuing for about 1 km, you will find a small cove with a pebble beach and turquoise waters.
This cove, about 1 km from St. Nicholas, offers spectacular views. It is devoid of bathing facilities.
From the district of the same name, it descends to the sea. The stretch of beach is small, consisting of pebbles and gravel in the southern section and sandy in the northern section. The beach is free, and there are no services in the immediate vicinity only those offered by the accommodation facilities in the area.
